The Toner Recycler

Objective
To fill black and color toner into a variety of cartridges.

Problem
This Recycler needed an accurate solution with quick and easy changeover to run black, magenta, cyan and yellow toner.

Solution
PER-FIL® supplied The Original Model MR-1 Micro-Recharger® with 3 additional sets of color change parts (4 sets total). Each set is designated for a color (black, magenta, cyan, yellow). Eliminate product give-away

Objective
Net weigh filling of toner into bottles.

Problem
This toner supplier was concerned about product give-away and wanted verifiable fill weights for his toner bottles. Additionally customer needed a bulk feed system to get his bulk toner from drums into the filler.

Solution
PER-FIL®'s Model MR-1W Net Weigh Micro-Recharger® toner filler was integrated with our DD-1 Drum Dumper to provide optimum fill accuracy and dust-free bulk handling. The Mettler-Toledo scale controls the revolutions of the auger and the customer can download net fill weights to a PC or printer. The hydraulic DD-1 Drum Dumper takes bulk toner from drums and feeds it directly into the filler hopper. This sealed system ensures dust-free replenishment and eliminates any mechanism which can cause fusing or particle generation.

Case Study #3:
Limited plant space

Objective
To fill toner and developer into various cartridges and bottles, improving fill speed and accuracy over customer's existing equipment.

Problem
New bulk handling, filling, weighing and capping equipment must fit into existing plant space while improving output. Additional concerns were accuracy and cleanliness of fill.

Solution
Using PER-FIL® Model MF-3I Three Spindle Toner Filler, the customer was able to fill three containers simultaneously in the same space he was previously able to fill one container. The ported tooling with dust removal termination provided clean fills with accuracy of +/- 1%. The dual lane indexing conveyor with cross pusher station eliminated the customer's racetrack conveyor and freed up valuable floor space to allow for easier movement of materials into and out of the packaging room. Case Study #4:
Toner flows like water

Objective
Fill bags with 10 kg of toner.

Problem
Toner flows like water when aerated and moving toner through a filler hopper at such rates (25-30 kg per minute) with competitive filling equipment resulted in inaccurate fills, free flows of toner (as much toner ended up on the floor as went into the bags!) and leaking bag seals (because the seal area was contaminated with toner.

Solution
PER-FIL®'s Net Weigh Toner Filler was equipped with a bag holder and pneumatic actuated cut-off tooling to ensure a clean seal area on the bags and positive cut-off of toner flow after the fill cycle was complete. The Mettler-Toledo scale ensured optimum fill accuracy. Adding a valve between customer's bulk feed system and the filler eliminated a flood condition and helped control product consistency. Big, fast, accurate, and clean too?

Objective
To supply automatic cartridge handling and filling for various toner cartridges.

Problem
Production rates of 4-6 cpm on 520 gram fill size of toner into HP4400 cartridge at fill accuracy better than +/- 1%. Typical toner challenges included bulk handling, dust control and ensuring no particle generation.

Solution
PER-FIL® Model MF-1RIT Servo Toner Filler with Rotary Index Turret and DD-2 Drum Dumper ensured trouble free cartridge handling, accurate filling and dust-free handling.
